Which ETF Data Feeds Are Available?

Despite the rapid growth in ETFs, no data provider was specifically focused on the needs of the ETF community. First Bridge was founded in 2010 with the belief that specialized, high-quality ETF data is essential for innovation and growth in the space. Through our partnership with First Bridge, we’re proud to offer the following feeds:

  • US ETF Metadata: Includes fields such as the underlying index, expense ratio, and sponsor as well as granular information about the investment objective of the fund. It also includes fields such as smart beta classification and index weighting scheme that are hard to source elsewhere.
  • US ETF Current Analytics: Includes recent EOD analytics for US-listed ETFs, volumes, 52-week highs/lows, marketcaps, and shares outstanding.

More About ETFs

Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) have been one of the world’s fastest-growing investment vehicles for several years. ETFs now have over $5T in global assets, more than the global hedge fund industry. It is projected that ETFs could grow to $20-25T in assets globally by 2025.

The reason for the rapid growth of ETFs is their use in both passive and active management by retail and institutional investors. The ways in which ETFs are used include:

  • Tactical asset allocation and active management
  • Passive exposure to core asset classes
  • Equitizing cash
  • To get targeted exposure to specific investment themes or factors

Consequently, any provider of investment services, applications or research must be ‘ETF data enabled’ i.e. powered by high-quality ETF data that is timely, accurate and reflects the specific nuances of the ETF space.

Apply ETFs to Your Strategy

The core mission at First Bridge is to support ETF related product innovation and growth. Intrinio shares a similar mission, we believe that when data is affordable and accessible, people can create incredible things.

Some of the real-world applications we’ve seen include:

  • Fintech firms: Can design ETF screening, sorting and analysis tools in mobile and web apps that are customized to their users’ needs.
  • Investment research analysts & RIA firms: Can analyze the performance, holdings, and flows for individual ETFs as well as for specific asset classes and categories of funds. The data can underlie new research products.
  • ETF sponsors: Can use the data to analyze market share changes, product launches, and new product opportunities.
  • Hedge funds: Can identify trading opportunities based on underlying constituents, upcoming rebalancing events, and flow related signals.

And much more! We can’t wait to see what you build!
