The stock market. You probably know what it is and at least a little about it, but maybe you’re not sure how to get started investing in it. If this is the case for you, then you’ve probably asked yourself at least one of the following questions: How do I choose which stocks to invest in? How can I see a stock’s past performance? Which stocks perform the best over time? How do I create a portfolio? That’s where Stocksholm comes in.
What is Stocksholm?
Stocksholm is an independent rating platform for stocks that trade on NYSE and Nasdaq.
The team at Stocksholm developed a quantitative algorithm that assigns star ratings to stocks based on the stock’s value and momentum. The algorithm has been rigorously backtested and in tests running for a period of 45 years (1964-2009), it has shown to return 23.04% annually, far outperforming the S&P 500’s 9.33% annual return.
Users combine the rating with their own knowledge or sentiment toward that stock to determine which stock they’d like to invest in.
The data is updated daily, making it easy for anyone to get started investing in the hottest stocks right away.
How Does it Work?
Using the aforementioned algorithm, stocks are assigned a star rating, the higher the rating, the better the stock and the more stars that stock will have.
You are able to view the stocks by industry, where they are then organized by company name. When you click on a company that you’re interested in, you will be able to review more details about their stock.
Each page includes:
- A Valuation star rating (out of 5) and is based on the following ratios:
- Dividend Yield
- Enterprise Value to EBITDA
- Price to Book
- Price to Earnings
- Price to Sales
- A Momentum star rating (out of 5) and is based on:
- 6 Month Momentum
- Current Stock Price
- Company Website and Address
- Company Bio and Additional Information
